THE CELTIC NIGHT
MAGO DE OZ
Mägo de Oz is the most international metal band in Spanish music with more than 7 Platinum albums and over two million copies sold in Spain and Latin America. 5 of their singles have made it to # 1 on the greatest hits charts, being their most popular single Fiesta Pagana, a hit in Latin America and Spain.
With a score of 20 records on the market, the band from Madrid formed by Txus di Fellatio in 1988, presents his new album Finisterra Opera Rock.
According to Txus di Fellatio: “This record does not aim to correct or amend what we’ve recorded so far, rather, this album is a tribute to those times drained by the experience, a tribute to a lineup that will never come back but will remain forever in my memory … 15 years have gone by and it is time to take stock, and in the shelter of your ears, count the casualties in our heart due to too much living, to too much singing … “
Six years after their last album, 40 de Abril, Celtas Cortos present their new album Contratiempos. Topics such as corruption, health and education have been the source of inspiration for these new songs, four of which have been recorded with the Valladolid Conservatory Symphonic Band.
In this new recording, Celtas Cortos explore new territories such as hip-hop, as in El vals del abuso. Still, their album bears their stamp: rock sound with Celtic influences and deep protest lyrics.
The group was formed in 1986 in Valladolid. Eight friends decided to take part in a music contest under the name of ‘Eurofolk Collective’. They won the first prize, decided to continue playing together and changed their name to Celtas Cortos.
Their Celtic rock includes lyrics that ranged from protest to melancholy. Over the years their style has incorporated elements from Caribbean music, flamenco, electronic music or reggae. They have a huge list of hits that have become anthems such as like 20 de abril, La senda del tiempo, Tranquilo Majete or No nos podrán parar.
